Large Turnout for the Official Opening of Alexandroupolis Photo Week 2026

The inaugural Alexandroupolis Photo Week officially opened to a large and enthusiastic audience on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Warehouse 1 in the Port of Alexandroupolis. The festival is organized by the Center for Creative Photography of Thrace.

At the heart of the opening event was the discussion “Photography Today,” featuring Heracles Papaioannou, Konstantinos Pittas, and Dora Lavazou. The three speakers explored the role of photography in contemporary society.

Welcoming remarks on behalf of the Municipality of Alexandroupolis were delivered by Evanthia Valasidou, Deputy Mayor for Culture, Volunteering, Lifelong Learning, and Youth, and Ilias Dasteridis, Deputy Mayor for Social Solidarity, Sports, and Civil Protection.

One of the evening’s highlights was the awards ceremony for the 1st National Student Photography Competition 2025–2026, themed “The Eyes, the Mirror of the Soul.” The awards recognized the creativity and individual perspectives of the students who took part.

Alexandroupolis Photo Week continues through Sunday, November 8, 2026, with photography exhibitions, talks, workshops, and presentations. Visitors can discover the work of participating photographers and attend events dedicated to photographic creativity.

Alexandroupolis Photo Week is held with the financial support and under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, as well as under the auspices of the Municipality of Alexandroupolis.
