Photography Exhibition: "Images of Silk" in Edirne

The Centre for Creative Photography of Thrace, "travels" the photography exhibition "Images of Silk" to Edirne.

The Union of Professional Merchants & Craftsmen of Soufli & Region, in cooperation with Edirne Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is organising a Silk Exhibition in Edirne, Turkey, on the 1st and 2nd of June, with the support of the Greek Consulate. The exhibition will be accompanied by the Thrace Centre for Creative Photography, which will present the "Images of Silk" project, highlighting the beauty and importance of silk through artistic photography.

The Centre for Creative Photography of Thrace continues to be a pioneer in the field of photographic art, presenting the project "Images of Silk". This creative initiative highlights the art and history of silk through the lens of the Centre's photographers. The photographs document the journey from the cultivation of mulberry to the production of silk fabric, capturing unique moments and stories.

The photographs have been printed on fabric made from Soufli's 100% organic silk, creating a striking combination of photography and textile art. The photographs will be exhibited, offering the public a dual artistic experience where the silk itself becomes the canvas for the images capturing the process of its production.

The creators of this project are the following: Nikos Andreadakis, Giannis Gkogkos, Christina Gkousiou, Ilias Grigoriadis, Georgia Dimitriou, Nikos Zoakis, Dimosthenis Karageorgiou, Michalis Boliakis, Giannis Boultadakis, Ilias Papadakis, Katerina Papapanagiotou, Gioula Patsi, Aneza Spanopoulou, kai Tzoulia Tsiridou.

The exhibition aims to bring the public into contact with the art of silk through the art of photography, highlighting the tradition and craftsmanship of silk production.

The silk exhibition will also provide an opportunity to showcase and taste local products from the region, strengthening cultural and commercial ties between Greece and Turkey.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on Saturday 1 June 2024 at 18:30 at the Edirne Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
