Photography exhibition "After the Fire" in Rhodes

The Centre for Creative Photography of Thrace and the Niki Spartali Photography Workshop invite you to the photography exhibition entitled "After the Fire".

The exhibition will take place from 1st to 11th September 2024 at the French Lodging, Knights Street, in the Old Town of Rhodes, in the framework of the 8th Rhodes Artistic Creation Festival. The opening of the exhibition will take place on 1 September at 19:00.

The exhibition "After the Fire" presents the work of the Centre for Creative Photography of Thrace and the Niki Spartali Photography Workshop, which captures with deep emotional charge the devastating fires in Evros, Rhodes and Evia.

With the Evros fire being the largest forest disaster in Greece, this work captures the despair and devastation, while highlighting the resilience and hope that follow the most difficult moments. With over 962,00 acres burned, the photographs reveal the horror of untamed flames, smoky ruins, and the first signs of regrowth and regeneration.

The project extends to the fires of Rhodes and Evia, incorporating a broader view of natural disasters in Greece. Each photograph is a window into disaster and recovery, highlighting the photographers' ability to turn tragedy into art.

Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to experience the harsh reality of natural disaster and the next day of rebirth, reflect on the consequences of climate change, and appreciate the beauty that can emerge from even the most devastating circumstances.
